According to Rabobank’s Poultry Quarterly Q3 report, almost all major poultry-producing regions are profitable despite highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks. According to the report, the outlook for late this year and next year is bullish as the result of tight poultry supplies and low feed prices.

Though HPAI is a continuing concern, in recent months the number of outbreaks has been lower, which could allow affected producers time to rebuild flocks. Strong market conditions were forecast for the United States by Rabobank, with restrictive supply growth and healthy market balance. Worldwide, the regional outlook for poultry remains strong, with the exception of China, where Rabobank said a profitable poultry industry has been elusive.

In the United States, Rabobank forecasted strong market conditions with healthy market balance and restrictive supply growth. The last detection of HPAI was July 17. More than 48 million birds have been culled since the first detection of HPAI in December 2014. The U.S. poultry industry has begun the process of recovering from the past outbreak while preparing for a potential round of avian flu during the fall migration of wild birds.
