OK Foods, a subsidiary of Industrias Bachoco, has completed its $8-million purchase of a fully cooked chicken product plant in Oklahoma City,  the company announced this week.  The plant was formerly owned by the  American Foods Group.

Industrias Bachoco S.A.B. de C.V is Mexico’s leading poultry producer and processor.  OK Foods was acquired by Industrias Bachoco in November 2011.

“We are excited to add the Oklahoma City plant to our company along with our existing plants in Muldrow, Stigler, and Heavener and further expand our relationship with the Oklahoman community,” said Trent Goins, president and chief executive officer of OK Foods. “OK Foods plans to increase the production in this facility, which will allow OK Foods to hire even more hard-working employees from the local community.”

OK Foods announced the acquisition in December 2015 and closed the deal on February 16. The plant is capable of producing 700,000 pounds of product per week.  Beginning in August, OK Foods plans to hire an additional 100-full time employees for its new fully cooked production line. The company said the acquisition will help streamline and improve the product mix in OK Foods’ U.S. operations
