Each week, NCC will feature in a short spotlight column the official representative from each of our Allied Leader and Allied Member companies. This week’s Allied Leader Spotlight is Jim Byron, CEO, Xgenex Labs, LLC.

We asked Jim three questions:

In 2-3 sentences, describe what good or service your company provides to the broiler industry.

Xgenex manufactures and supplies intervention chemicals and tools to the food industry, including broilers and poultry. As a supplier of the most important chemicals like PAA and ASC, our focus on bacteria, including salmonella, separates Xgenex from traditional industry suppliers. Xgenex has invented and patented equipment, formulations, technology, and instruments that reduce chemical costs while achieving the salmonella performance standard. Xgenex technology also helps relieve plant labor strains by supplying reliable automated machines of the future that are monitored and controlled remotely.

Can you briefly describe your position and responsibilities within the company?

I work directly with customers in poultry and food production to identify and solve the most difficult operational challenges involving bacteria. I am responsible for leading a team patenting and commercializing Xgenex inventions. As we commercialize our inventions, my focus turns to solving additional problems and developing more technology. As technology is commercialized, I hand off to our operations team. I am always interested to talk with industry leadership to understand the “next” important challenge we can solve.

What is your favorite chicken dish?

Wings. Definitely. (I prefer flats). My favorite wings are enjoyed with family and friends involving celebrations or sports.
