2025 PGA Sanderson Farms Championship This Week in Jackson

The tournament, running October 2-5, returns to the Country Club of Jackson after the 2024 tournament resulted in Kevin Yu winning his first PGA Tour event. In addition to Yu attempting to defend his title, several players fresh off the Ryder Cup are expected to be in the field. The tournament will run Oct. 2-5. The first two days of the tournament will be available to stream on ESPN+. All four days of the tournament will be available to watch on the Golf Channel.

Perdue Provides 80K Pounds of Chicken to Food Bank

Perdue Farms recently donated the equivalent of about 96,000 meals to the Foodbank of Siouxland in Iowa as part of its “Fill the Food Gap” initiative. The Sioux City-based food bank serves 11 counties in the region, where one in nine people and one in five children are considered food insecure. Perdue also committed to donating protein throughout the next year, according to the Foodbank of Siouxland. Perdue this week also delivered a truckload of chicken to the Food Bank of Delaware as part of its “Fill the Food Gap” program. The company said the donation is part of Hunger Action Month efforts to address food insecurity across the state and the country.

Cargill Donates $1 Million To K-State’s Agriculture Innovation Initiative

Cargill has donated $1m to Kansas State University’s Agriculture Innovation Initiative, bringing the university within 5% of its $210m fundraising goal and surpassing $10m in total lifetime giving from the company. The initiative, led by K-State’s College of Agriculture, aims to advance global food security through interdisciplinary research, infrastructure improvements, and industry collaboration, including the development of new and renovated facilities.

Wayne-Sanderson Invests $250K in USG Program

Wayne-Sanderson Farms is investing $250,000 to enhance poultry workforce development at the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus. The funding will expand hands-on training opportunities for students and help create state-of-the-art facilities. This initiative highlights the importance of industry-academic partnerships in preparing the future workforce.

Plylar, Irwin named to Delaware Business Hall of Fame

The Delaware Business Hall of Fame Class of 2025 includes outgoing and rising chief executives who have made significant impacts in the state throughout their careers. Among those selected for induction this year are retired Mountaire Farms of Delmarva President Phillip Plylar, and current Mountaire President Amanda Irwin. The group will be celebrated at an Oct. 29 ceremony at the CSC Global Headquarters in Wilmington. The Honorees are selected based on their business, industry or community accomplishments that had a positive impact in the Delaware region.
