House approves final FY2026 appropriations bills

On January 23, 2026, in Appropriations, by David Elrod

The House on Thursday approved all of its remaining FY2026 appropriations bills, where they will now head to the Senate for consideration before the January 30 deadline.

In separate votes, the House passed the Homeland Security funding bill by a 220-207 vote, while also passing a larger, more bipartisan group of bills to fund Defense, Health and Human Services, Labor, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, and Education, by a 341-88 vote.

Both bills provide funding through September 30.

Current government funding is provided by a Continuing Resolution (CR) that was signed into law on November 12, 2025. That CR also included full FY2026 funding for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Legislative Branch, and for military construction and the Veterans Affairs Department.

Senate leadership and appropriators will now consider the House-passed bills and hash out any differences with their Senate-passed versions before becoming law.
