Texas-based Wingstop posted double-digit gains of same store sales of 10.5 percent in the first quarter. This is the eighth consecutive year of positive comparable sales for the chain, which operates more than 500 restaurants across the United States and Mexico.
In addition, the company said it plans to open up 28 new restaurants by the end of the second quarter. New franchise agreements will lead to the opening of multiple locations in markets such as Detroit, Philadelphia, and Phoenix and in the states of Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Georgia.
Technomic named Wingstop as the 10th fastest growing restaurant chain in 2011 among those with $200 million sales or more.
