Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Thad Cochran (R-MS) made final appointments to the five subcommittees comprising the Senate Agriculture, Forestry and Nutrition Committee. There will be three freshmen Democrats who will chair subcommittees: Joe Donnelly (IN), Commodities, Markets, Trade and Risk Management; Heidi Heitkamp (ND), Jobs, Rural Economic Growth and Energy Innovation; and Mo Cowan (MA), Nutrition, Specialty Crops, Food and Agricultural Research. The two other subcommittees will be chaired by Senators who have served on the committee previously: Michael Bennett (D-CO), Conservation, Forestry and Natural Resources and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Livestock, Dairy, Poultry, Marketing and Agricultural Security.
