The first Vietnamese branch of McDonald’s served 22,500 customers in the first 24 hours of operation, said Henry Nguygen, whose company operates McDonald’s’ in Vietnam under a franchise agreement. The first McDonald’s restaurant in Vietnam opened on February 8 in Ho Chi Minh City and reportedly served 400,00 customers in the first month of operation. The second McDonald’s in the country will also be located in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguygen said.
KFC has been operating in the country since 1997. Other U.S. fastfood restaurants operating in Vietnam since 2010 include Burger King, Carl’s Jr., Domino’s Pizza, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, and Subway.
