The General Conference Committee of the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) has announced a meeting to be scheduled for August 30-September 1 in Bellevue, Washington.  The General Conference Committee represents cooperating state agencies and poultry industry members by serving as a liaison between the poultry industries and the U.S. Department of Agriculture on matters of poultry health significance. Discussions at the meeting will cover:

  • Salmonella;
  • New diagnostic tests;
  • CDC report on Salmonella infections;
  • Avian Influenza update;
  • Mycoplasma update

The committee has also announced that the Secretary of Agriculture is soliciting nominations for regional membership elections, a member-at-large, and alternates for the committee.  Considerations for these positions will be given to all nominations received on or before June 15, 2016.
