Tyson Foods has moved up more than 50 spots in the Newsweek Green Rankings, reflecting the company’s environmental and transparency efforts, according to a company news release.  Tyson Foods ranked 328th out of the 500 companies in the 2016 rankings, compared to 381st  last year.

“We believe the new ranking shows the progress we are making in our efforts to protect the environment and conserve natural resources, said Leigh Ann Johnston, director of sustainability for the company.  “We intend to continue improving our environmental performance as well as our position in the Newsweek Green Rankings.”

Earlier this spring, Tyson Foods released its newest sustainability report, which includes information on the company’s environmental stewardship.  In addition, the company has set a 12-percent water reduction goal.

Other NCC member companies named in the Green Rankings include:

  • Ecolab (ranked 6th)
  • Merck & Co. (ranked 82nd)
  • Sealed Air (ranked 108th)
  • International Paper (ranked 137th)
  • Wells Fargo (ranked 186th)
