Ancera Joins NCC as an Allied Member Company

Ancera, Inc. has joined the National Chicken Council as an allied member.   Jim Bryon, chief commercial officer, will serve as the official representative to NCC.

The mission of the company based in Branford, Connecticut  is to “prevent food waste, recalls or worse, the spread of foodborne illnesses.”  Ancera has developed a small printer-sized instrument called the Piper to help identify the presence of pathogens on produce, poultry and other foods. The system is designed to assist quality control staff without any biology training to check for Salmonella and other contaminants, such as Campylobacter, Listeria, or spoilage organisms at various points in the supply chain. The Piper is said to be able to detect and quantify Salmonella in a test sample within one to eight hours.
