The 2020 U.S. Broiler Chicken Industry Sustainability Report received first place national recognition at the 2022 National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) Best of NAMA Ceremony on April 6, in Kansas City, Mo. Upon winning NAMA regionals for the category, Company Publications, Annual Reports, the 2020 U.S. Broiler Industry Sustainability Report advanced to nationals and competed against submissions from six other regions.

Launching the first-ever Sustainability Report was a culmination of the U.S. chicken industry’s commitment to environmentally and socially sustainable production practices to ensure a healthier planet. The report features new Life Cycle Assessment data commissioned by NCC, which reveals the broiler industry achieved significant improvements in key sustainability intensity metrics between 2010 and 2020. In addition, the report highlights more than 40 profiles and stories of NCC members, poultry farmers and industry stakeholders.

“Winning this award is a collective effort on behalf of the entire U.S. chicken industry, because we couldn’t have made such significant environmental progress without the steadfast commitment of each farmer and processing company,” said NCC President Mike Brown. “Chicken is America’s No. 1 protein, and we’re proud to share that our story is a safe, nutritious and sustainable one. All the same, the broiler industry remains more focused than ever on further advancing environmentally-friendly production practices.”
