NCC President Mike Brown today announced that David Elrod, NCC Manager of Government Affairs, has been promoted to Director.
After an internship with NCC beginning in 2017, Elrod was hired as a Government Affairs Associate and subsequently promoted to Manager of Government Affairs. In his current role, he assists in developing and executing NCC’s legislative policies; advocates public policy positions of the U.S. chicken industry with members of Congress and other government officials; assists in managing legislative issues in the House of Representatives and Senate to meet NCC goals and objectives; and furthers the interests of the industry and provides information to NCC members regarding legislative developments. Elrod is also the editor of NCC’s weekly newsletter, Washington Report.
He represents NCC at various congressional hearings, markups, briefings and other events. He also helps oversee all activities of NCCPAC, including fundraising and fund disbursement.
Elrod is a 2017 graduate of The King’s College in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Culture & the Arts with a concentration in creative writing. While in New York City, he served as staff writer focusing on financial stories at the Empire State Tribune and film critic’s assistant to Vox Media’s Alissa Wilkinson. Prior to finishing his degree in New York, he worked for the Raleigh News & Observer while attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
