The Consumer Price Index (CPI) released on Wednesday showed an 0.1 percent increase in overall consumer prices from March to April as well as a 4.9 percent increase over the last 12 months.

Food prices, however, have remained the same with no increase in prices from March to April. The 12-month adjustment for food overall shows a 7.7 percent increase from this time last year. Food prices at home have increased 0.1 percent from March to April and food prices away from home have fallen 0.2 percent in that same period.

Meat, poultry, fish, and egg prices have increased 2.8 percent in April from the prior year. Chicken prices have increased just 3.4 percent from the prior year. Egg prices have decreased from the following month, but still remain 21.4 percent higher in April 2023 than the year before.
