The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) this week announced the recipients of the 2025 Clean Water Award: Tyson Foods in Danville, Va. and Perdue Foods in Lewiston, N.C. This annual award honors poultry facilities that demonstrate exceptional performance in wastewater treatment, water reuse and overall sustainability. Winners were selected by a committee of industry engineers and university experts and recognized at USPOULTRY’s annual Environmental Management Seminar.

The Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission on Tuesday submitted to President Trump its “Make Our Children Healthy Again Strategy Report,” which identifies four potential drivers it says are behind the rise in childhood chronic disease that present the clearest opportunities for progress: Poor diet; Chemical exposure; Lack of physical activity and chronic stress; and Overmedicalization.

Poultry industry safety professionals attending the 2025 National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry were presented with solutions to an array of current and emerging issues. The three-day event included speaker presentations, discussions, and small group breakout sessions, all of which provided opportunities for attendees to get answers to their valuable questions. Suggestions for short-, medium- and long-term safety culture improvement were provided, with accessible strategies that can be implemented immediately. The conference also recognized outstanding achievements with the announcement of the 2025 Safety Award winners.

The U.S. poultry industry has invested US$2.7 billion in processing facility improvements over the past five years, with the majority targeting the further-processed sector, explained CoBank animal protein economist Brian Earnest at the 2025 Chicken Marketing Summit. These investments have focused primarily on upgrading existing facilities and adding new processing lines rather than expanding capacity by constructing new plants.

To kickoff the NFL season and September’s National Chicken Month, NCC, the Brewers Association, the Congressional and Senate Chicken Caucuses, and the Congressional and Senate Small Brewers Caucuses, hosted a bicameral Congressional reception yesterday in the historic Kennedy Caucus Room in the United States Senate.
