The Senate Appropriations Committee advanced funding legislation that would stop proposed FDA labeling rules for restaurant menus, and would bar USDA from expanding the types of food retailers in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) was selected this week to Chair the House Ways and Means Committee. This comes after Paul Ryan was recently elected as the new Speaker of the House.
The House and Senate last week sent to the president a two-year, bipartisan budget agreement, The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015 (House vote 266-167; Senate vote 64-35). President Obama signed the bill today.
