The National Chicken Council on Tuesday joined a diverse group of organizations representing the transportation sector, distributors, retail businesses, poultry producers, and food manufacturers in communicating support for both the proposed Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Restart Study and a one-year suspension of two unjustified restrictions on the use of the hours of service restart provision by professional drivers.
“These two new restrictions have placed economic hardships on thousands upon thousands of employers, as well as reducing drivers’ wages throughout the motor carrier industry,” according to the letter signed by almost 100 groups. The letter was sent ahead of Thursday’s Senate Appropriations Committee markup of the fiscal year 2015 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill.
