On August 21, 2020, in COVID-19, FDA, OSHA, by David Elrod

The Department of Labor’s (DOL) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday jointly released a checklist for food processors and manufacturers to consider when conducting, resuming or reevaluating operations due to COVID-19.

The checklist is meant to target establishments growing, harvesting, packing, manufacturing, processing or holding food products regulated by the FDA. The checklist includes considerations to ensure employee health, investigate exposure to COVID-19, determine testing protocols, configuration of work environments and ways to align workstations to incorporate social distancing practices.

The checklist can be found here.

The list is meant to be used in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and OSHA-issued guidance for agriculture and meat and poultry processing workers and employers.
